What happens if there is a tie in golf, and there is Dead Heat Grading?
A dead heat refers to ties in finishing position bets, such as first-round leader, Top 5, and Top 20. When tied, the stake is divided by the number of players tied for those spots.
For example:
During the PGA Championship, you wager $100 on +200 odds for Rory McIlroy to finish in the top 5. At the end of the final round on Sunday, he finished in a two-way tie for 5th. Here’s how you will be paid out:
- Divide your stake by the number of tied players
- $100 / 2 = $50 (this is the portion of your stake that wins)
- The other $50 is considered a losing bet.
- Apply the odds to the winning portion: $50 × +200 = $100 winnings
- Total return: $100 winnings + $50 stake (the winning portion only) = $150 return
To account for the changes to the wagers stake and payout, you will notice that the odds will be adjusted on your betslip to equal the updated payout.
3-ball bets can also be graded with Dead Heat Rules
What happens if the golfer I bet on gets injured once the tournament has started?
Players are considered as action if they tee off on the first hole of the event or specified round.
If the player gets hurt or backs out pre-tournament, markets will be deemed no action, and the wager will be voided.
What happens to my wager if the golf event gets postponed?
If an event is abandoned, cancelled, or postponed, then wagers that have already been determined will be graded as such, while those that are yet to be determined will be deemed no action if the event does not resume within 8 days of the official start.
If a tournament is reduced from the scheduled number of holes, wagers on the outright market will be graded according to the official result. Any wagers accepted after the final shot is played will be deemed no action and voided.
Can I parlay players within the same market?
Unfortunately, we are not currently offering players within ‘Top X Finish’ markets to be parlayed. This is something we will be looking to add in the future.
Nearest to the pin
Throughout certain tournaments, we will be offering hole-by-hole nearest to the pin betting. For bets to qualify, balls must land on the green.
